Barbara (Jaynes) Ward-Bovee, age 76, peacefully left this life on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Bridge Hospice in Bowling Green, Ohio. We were not ready to lose her, but we rejoice in the knowledge that she is free of pain. Barbara was born on February 7, 1941 to Donald and Marjorie Jaynes. After graduating from Libbey High School, she worked as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell. Embracing motherhood, she played an active role in her children's lives, volunteering for everything from PTA to Girl Scouts. Her quest for knowledge led her to the University of Toledo, where she graduated Summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Education Degree, and to Bowling Green State University, where she earned a Magna cum laude Master of Science Degree and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Education Administration and Supervision. Barbara loved teaching and interacting with children, as a mother, aunt, and grandmother, and on a professional level as a Speech-Language Pathologist and Advisor in Private Practice at PENTA Joint Vocational School, Clinical Supervisor and College Instructor at Bowling Green State University, and as Assistant Principal, Principal, and District Director of Curriculum, Professional Development and Testing at Napoleon Area City School District. After she retired, Barbara served as an Adjunct Instructor at Bowling Green State University. Following Barbara's expressed wishes for a celebration of life at her passing, not a funeral, there will be a celebration of her life at 10:30am on Saturday, May 13th at her spiritual home, Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 22552 Carter Road, Bowling Green, Ohio. Left behind to cherish her memory are her loving husband Thomas Bovee; daughters, Lisa Ward (Miguel Roman) and Laurie Sabin; sister Susan (Henry) Weir-Schaadt; six grandchildren: Corey (Amber) Birukow, Emily (Jeff) Schwarzkopf, Stacy Bubb, Megan Birukow, Erin Birukow, and Aubrey Birukow; nieces Amy (Jay) Hannan and Melissa (Jamie) Carnes; nephew Robb (Susan) Weir; four great-grandchildren; three great-nieces; six great-nephews, and her devoted canine companion, Miss Jenny.
