Bryan L
Lauer
Nov 15, 1958 — Jun 4, 2026
On Thursday, June 4, 2026, Bryan Lawrence Lauer, age 67 of Whitehouse, was relieved from pain after a long battle with liver disease. His family wants to send a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at Grand Rapids Care Center for treating him like a member of their own family for the last six weeks of his life. He was the firstborn child of Peggy and Lawrence Lauer, born on November 15, 1958. He had two brothers, Mark and Brent, and one sister, Lisa-Ann Brickner (Lauer). He graduated from Rossford High School in 1976, where he enjoyed being part of the band, theater, and chess club.
He continued his education at Bowling Green State University, where he met his wife Diane Lauer (Ludwig). He graduated in 1980, majoring in Physics with a Chemistry minor. He pursued his master's degree in Higher Education at the University of Toledo in 1987. He worked at Owens Community College, the University of Toledo, and finally at BASF as a color matcher.
Service to others was an important part of his life. From spending time tutoring others in math or science, to time as a volunteer fireman, advanced EMT, police officer for Providence Township, and then the first director of the Anthony Wayne Community Food Ministry, Bryan sought to care for others.
He married the love of his life, Diane on September 4, 1981. They welcomed two daughters, Jessica and Katharine. When his children were younger, he enjoyed camping, especially at Delaware State Park. As they got older, he enjoyed watching his daughters perform in the high school bands.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 45 years, Diane Sue Lauer (Ludwig) of Whitehouse, his daughters Jessica (Christopher) Nichols of Findlay, Katharine (Kevin) Connors of Cincinnati, grandchildren Cara and Adelyn Nichols and Andrew and Brooklyn Connors, his mother Peggy of Perrysburg, his siblings Mark (Mary) of Florida, Lisa-Ann (Don) Brickner of Luckey, and Brent (Cheryl) of Bowling Green, mother-in-law, Beatrice Ludwig, and sisters-in-law Linda (Joseph) Koluch, and Michelle (Mac) McCann. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is celebrating his reunion with his father, Lawrence Lauer, father-in-law, Paul Ludwig, and grandparents Ern and Helen Haas, all who preceded him in death.
A funeral mass celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Saint Rose Catholic Church at 11:00 with a visitation held one hour prior and a lunch following to gather and share memories.
His family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to either Nature's Nursery or the Toledo Humane Society. Bryan loved animals. He took many wild animals to Nature's Nursery over the years for rehabilitation and has adopted his beloved pets over the years from the Toledo Humane Society. He would love nothing more than to help these organizations care for animals in his memory.
