Daniel Joseph Smith, 70, of Temperance, MI, passed away in his home on February 2nd. Dan was born on December 8th, 1951, to Leland and Katherine Smith in Adrian, MI. After graduating from Adrian High School in 1970, he took a career as a meat cutter, which he excelled at for 40 years. In 1991, he fell in love with his best friend, Kellie Meinhart. A spontaneous decision to get married led to 30-years of bliss and unending devotion. Dan and Kellie enjoyed many adventures; while Petoskey was their favorite destination, they appreciated any lighthouse they were able to visit. Dan was passionate about many things (especially his motorcycle and fishing), but his favorite pastime was being with his grandchildren, whom he loved with every fiber of his being. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Katherine. He is survived by his wife, Kellie; Children: Theresa, Rebecca, Alan, and Holly (Nathan) Lyke ; Grandchildren: Lily, Hazel, and Noah; Sisters: Rosemary (Tom) Genyk, Ann (Steve) Emerson, and Jane Smith; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
