George Bernard Weikinger (Bernie) George Bernard Weikinger, 70, of Toledo died Friday, May 26 at Heritage Village in Waterville, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bernie was born January 5th, 1947 to Raymond and Leobelle (Hanna) Weikinger, the middle child of seven siblings. He attended Sylvania High School, and following enlistment into the army he served as a combat engineer in Vietnam. In his earlier years he worked in construction and later sales. Bernie loved life and had a wonderful sense of humor. He couls strike up a conversation with anyone. His passions were NASCAR, playing cards, vacationing by the water. He liked gardening, having cook-outs and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Bernie is survived by his son Jesse; his grandson Zachary; sisters Sharon Vass (Tom Dixon), Ramonda (Don) McLargin, Susan (Todd) Meyer; brothers Raymond (Sharon), Michael, and Mark; goddaughter Candy Monroe; and his dog "Baby Blue".
