Obituary

Jean Louise Burtch Jean Louise Burtch of Toledo, OH, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Jean, the daughter of John and Florence Louise MacDonald, was born on March 6, 1925. She graduated from DeVilbiss High School, and was also a graduate of The University of Toledo. During her time as a collegiate of UT, she was active in her women's fraternity, the XI Delta chapter of Chi Omega. She also met the love of her live, Richard Burtch, whom she married on February 27, 1948. After graduation, Jean remained a loyal Rockets fan and was active not only in the UT Alumni Association, but was deemed a golden alumnus, as well. She loved cheering on the Rockets in football and was a longstanding ticket holder of the UT women's basketball team. She was also a longtime Detroit Tigers fan. Jean was a member of Fairgreen Presbyterian Church for all of her adult life. She served many roles over the years, including choir member, Deacon, Elder, and an active volunteer for the church food pantry. The church was a central part of her life and she enjoyed the many close friendships she made over the years at the church, especially the Football group. Jean and Dick enjoyed many trips to Hawaii with good friends, Dick and Dottie Byers. She was preceded to heaven's gate by her loving husband, Dick, and cousins, Web & Woody Cole. She is survived by her four children, Randy Burtch, Dale (Mary) Burtch, Scott (Aggie) Burtch, and Laura (David) Burtch-Zovickian, cherished grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Joshua, Ryan, Kelley, David, Erik, Denise, Noah and Ben, as well as her beloved great-grandchildren, Nova, Jaycee and Rylee. A memorial service will be held on April 29, 2017 at Fairgreen Presbyterian Church at 3:30pm. Memorial tributes may be made to Fairgreen Presbyterian Church or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
