Jeffrey
Smith
Nov 11, 1965 — Apr 25, 2026
Jeffrey G. Smith, 60, of Blissfield, Michigan, passed away on April 25, 2026, at Toledo Hospital. Before he left this world for his heavenly home, Jeff was given a Walk of Honor. He was surrounded by his family, friends, and co-workers as he made his way to donate his organs so that others could have a second chance at life.
Jeff was born on November 11,1965. He was chosen by the best parents he could have asked for: William and Dorothea (Dowling) Smith. They helped shape the values that he held all through his life. Jeff had a brother, Eric (Heather) Smith, who came along soon after that. Eric was not only a brother, he was a friend and support to Jeff throughout his entire life.
Jeff graduated from Blissfield High School in 1984. He went on to hang drywall and do residential construction. In 1995 Jeff became a Union Carpenter and started working for Mario Dominguez at Integrity Wall and Ceiling Inc. They became his second family. Jeff retired in December 2025.
His true passion was hunting, both with a bow and with a gun. He looked forward to it every year. He enjoyed going on hunting trips to Montana and Africa. Jeff was the Vice President of Blissfield Sportsman's Club. He taught Hunters' Safety courses and was a big advocate for safe gun handling. He loved U of M football, never missing a game on TV. You would frequently hear him yelling out instructions to the TV like he was the coach (GO BLUE)!
Traveling was a late-in-life passion that he shared with his wife. They had many adventures, both alone and with family and friends. Those times will never be forgotten.
Jeff is survived by his wife Jewel (Waigle) Smith. She was his childhood friend and the love of his life. Together they raised a blended family with love, respect, and understanding.
Left to adore him were his children: son Grant Smith, daughter Morgan (Candice) Stonewood, son Hunter Smith, and stepchildren: Tiffany Wells, Travis Wells, Tanner (Cheyenne) Wells, Destany Wells, Dakota (Hannah) Wells, and Minjie Zhu.
As a proud Grandfather his legacy will live on through his grandchildren: Brayden, Walker, Larson, and Ryleigh Smith, Anabelle, Elaina, Oliver, Erika, and Evelyn Wells.
Jeff was proceeded in death by his mother, Dorothea (Dowling)Smith, stepmother, Lois Smith, and grandsons Michael and Don Wells.
His life will be defined by love and friendship; love for his family, and friendship and acceptance for everyone he met.
His legacy of faith, kindness and wholehearted devotion will continue to shine for generations.
Celebration of life to be determined at a later time.
