John Lewis Laney, 51, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Ebeid Hospice of Sylvania. John fought a grueling 11-year battle with brain cancer. He was born on February 20, 1965 to Arwilda and Harold Laney in Toledo, OH. He is survived by his three children Amanda Laney of Holt, MI, Alexander Laney of Cleveland, OH, and McKenna Laney of Toledo, OH. John was a 1985 graduate of Libbey High School and the owner/operator of "A" Lawn Service in Toledo for over 25 years. He was dedicated to his job and had a noble work ethic. John had a love for all things sports, especially wrestling and football. He had a passion for cheering for his children during their sporting events and he was a huge fan of the Minnesota Vikings and The Ohio State University football teams. John is also survived by his sister, Laranda (Larry) Strugalaski; brothers E. Howard Zimmerman and Harold Laney. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Clifford and Jarold Zimmerman. A memorial service will be held in celebration of John's life on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Gesu Sullivan Center at 1:00 p.m., located at 2049 Parkside Blvd., Toledo, OH.
