John J. Smahaj, 78, of Perrysburg, passed away on August 26. He was born in 1937 in Genoa, Ohio to Martin and Catherine Smahaj, both deceased. In 1957 he married Nancy Baker, who preceded him in death after 35 years of marriage. They had four children: Tammy (Rick) Lerch of Kettering, Ohio; Tim of Perrysburg; Becky (Don) Anderson of Perrysburg; and Dawn Ghesquire, deceased. Surviving are his brother Cyril (Joyce); sisters Betty Mlynek; and Katie (John) Redman. Preceding him in death are his brother Joe (Katie); sisters Ann (Frank) Mrkva; Mary Konecny. He has six grandchildren and five surviving greatgrandchildren and one deceased. Burial will be private with the family.
