John Willinger, 61, of Toledo, Ohio passed away October 21, 2021at Mercy St. Vincent's hospital in the cardiac ICU. John was born in Toledo on October 9, 1960 to Alphonse and Dolores (Schwesinger) Willinger. John lived his entire life in Toledo, graduating from DeVilbiss high school in 1978. He married Cynthia Mayer in August, 1980 and she passed in July, 2009. John married Cheryl Mercer (Woodard) on May 21, 2016. Although their time together was short, John and Cheryl lived life to the fullest. They spent time traveling and attending concerts. John had a passion for music, attending over 100 concerts and meeting numerous artists. John spent his adult life working as a er. His last position was as a 3D er at Spectra Formlab in Millbury, Ohio. John was a life long member of the BVU German Society and loved attending the German American Festival every year. John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cindy, sister Sandra, and numerous close friends. John is survived by his wife, Cheryl, daughters Alison Maples, Samantha Willinger and step son Christopher (Tiffany) Mercer. He is survived by his brothers Joe (Jan) Willinger and Mike Willinger. He has one serviving sister, Linda Clark. John also had numerous nieces and nephews including Melissa (Brock) Battelline, Jessica (Jim) Zubricky, and great niece and nephew Mia and Brody Battelline. John inherited several beloved grandchildren when he married Cheryl. Austin Mercer, Zachary, Lillian , and Joshua Mercer, and Dylan Singleterry. John was a loving, generous, hardworking man and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. There will be a Celebration of Life on October 31,2021 at The Black Forest Cafe at Oak Shade Grove in Oregon, Ohio from 1-4pm. Service Details.
