Obituary

Julie Lynne Simmons, 52, of Woodville, Ohio went home to her Lord and Savior after a valiant battle with cancer on Friday, October 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Julie was born October 24, 1970, in Toledo, Ohio to Janet (Hansen) Hardy. She is survived by her loving husband, Mark, son, Hunter (Sophia), and daughter, Taylor (Trevor) along with her mother, Janet Hardy, her sister, Dawn (Marty) Horvath, brothers Chris (Heather) Marsh, Melvin (Donna) Hardy, sisters-in-law, Lisa Mielke, Marci (Jason) Ahumada, Michelle (Ed) Spencer, Marla Cameron, brother-in-law, Jack (Amy) Mielke, and many nieces, nephews and loved ones who cared greatly for her. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Marie Hansen and Betty J. Smith, mother-in-law, Judy Simmons, and her stepfather, Melvin J. Hardy. Julie attended Waite High School and graduated in 1989. She went on to obtain an associate degree in accounting from Owens Community College. She was employed at Romanoff Industries for 30 years, but her true work and heart was at home where she loved to serve her family with her unending love and devotion. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and had a special talent and love for creating parties and celebrations that would go beyond anyone's expectations. She loved her country house and enjoyed spending time making it a wonderful home for her family. Sundays were her favorite day to spend with family and cheer on her beloved Dallas Cowboys. She also enjoyed giving back to her community by serving on the GAC board at Genoa schools and serving at her church, Our Lady of Lourdes. She loved Jesus, and she looked each day to honor and obey Him, even when life was difficult. She never lost faith in His love and plan for her life. She loved intentionally and with purpose, not taking for granted the gift of life she had been given. Her children were her pride and joy, and along with Mark were her most treasured possessions. She desired to pass on to them her contagious love for life, her love for others, her joyful heart, thankful spirit, and her love for God. She is already missed more than can be imagined by her family and friends who love her and will carry on her memory. A celebration of Julie's life will be held later, and the family is in the process of establishing a scholarship fund through the Genoa Academic Committee in Julie's memory. If you wish to donate, checks can be made out to either Dawn M. Horvath with "Julie Simmons Scholarship Memorial Fund" in the memo or to Julie Simmons Scholarship Memorial Fund and sent to: Genoa Bank 801 Main St. Genoa, Ohio 43430
