Kathy Ann Ryan, 81, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, at Otterbein of Pemberville. She was born on October 2, 1944, in Toledo to Adolph Tscherne and Rita (Huss) Tscherne.

Kathy was a proud graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1962, after attending Good Shepherd. She went on to attend Mary Manse College, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Education.

Kathy devoted 35 years of her life to educating children through Toledo Public Schools. She retired as an Assistant Principal at Old Orchard Elementary School. Her dedication to education and the students she served was an important part of her life and legacy.

Outside of her career, Kathy enjoyed many things that brought her happiness. She was an avid crocheter and loved making scarves, purses, and other handmade treasures, which she enjoyed selling at craft shows. She also loved visiting the casino and attending University of Toledo women's basketball games with her lifelong friends. These friendships and the time spent together were very special to her.

Kathy is survived by her beloved grandson, Nick Ryan; siblings Margo Shears, Dan (Donna) Tscherne, and Linda (Chuck) Coons; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Ryan, and her parents, Adolph Tscherne and Rita (Huss) Tscherne.

A private gathering will be held for family and close friends. There will be no public services.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Otterbein of Pemberville for the care, kindness, and compassion they provided to Kathy.

Kathy will be remembered for her dedication to education, her creativity, her love of family and friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her 81 years.
