Larry Rolland Dernier, age 79, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran, Larry leaves behind a legacy defined by hard work, unconditional love, and an unwavering commitment to his family.

Born on December 26, 1946, Larry was the son of the late Rolland L. and Susie M. (Zima) Dernier. Raised with strong foundational values, he carried a legendary work ethic throughout his entire life. Larry was the ultimate provider, frequently balancing multiple jobs at a time to ensure his family always had everything they needed and wanted.

Larry shared 42 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Christina Dernier. Their enduring bond was built on deep mutual love and partnership. When they married, Larry completely embraced his role as a father, lovingly taking on Christina's two children from a previous marriage and raising them as his own. He even welcomed the children to join them on their honeymoon, a testament to his immediate commitment to his new family.

A proud and honorable man, Larry served his country with distinction as a veteran of the Vietnam War, later receiving an honorable discharge. His dedication to his country was only surpassed by his dedication to his home.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Christina Dernier; his daughter, Gabrielle (Darin) Stahl; his grandchildren; and his faithful dog, Pickles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rolland and Susie Dernier; his sister, Sue Marie; and his son, Gregory Pesina. 

Larry's strength, selflessness, and quiet dedication will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 434 Western Ave, Toledo, OH 43609.
