Larry Helle Sr., age 67, passed away peacefully on Monday December 22, 2014 at St. Lukes Hospital. Larry was born May 20, 1947 to Harold and Virginia Helle in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Macomber High School and enlisted in the US Navy. After serving in the Navy he became a self-taught body man. Larry had a passion for old cars, especially old Cadillacs. He loved to bring them back to life. He was truely a master body man. This passion and talent led him to open several body shops including American Classics on Lagrange Street. Larry also owned 3 car washes including the Circus Hand Car Wash on Woodville Road in Northwood. Anyone who lived east of the river will remember the life-sized gorilla that stood at the entrance to the car wash for many many years. Larry also owned the Amish Deli in the Erie Street Market and most recently was a partner in the Amish Country Store which was located in the Great Eastern Shopping Center in Northwood. Larry loved his family and was friend to everyone he met. He was a very kind and gentle man and generous to a fault. Larry was preceded in death by his parents as well as his step-mother, Leona, son Gene Helle, sisters Shirley Helle and Joanne Terman, nephews Larry Terman and Patrick Madden. Larry is survived by his son, Larry Helle, Jr., daughter, Sharon Helle, brother, Carl (Ella) Farley, grandsons, Brandon and Dyson Helle as well as his life-partner, Jean Padilla. Larry will be sadly missed every day but loved and remembered forever. Larry's family will host a celebration of his life and rememberance gathering on January 18, 2015 at 3601 Hill Ave., Byrnehill Mobile Home Park, in the community room from 4pm -9pm.
