Lee E. Pearson was born in Escanaba, Michigan on Friday, August 14th, 1936. He put himself through college by working as a milk delivery man, and graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1958. He worked for Owens Corning Fiberglass for much of his career, and traveled widely throughout the world, living in Saudi Arabia and Europe for many years. He retired to Vero Beach, Florida in 2007. Lee was active in ASTM International (formerly American Society for Testing and Materials), and led Plastic working groups for several decades, and contributed chapters to several ASTM books on plastics and plastic pipes. He held 8 patents for fiberglass-related innovations. Lee is survived by two daughters, Erin and Gwen Pearson. They ask that those wishing to honor Lee's memory donate to their local Hospice.
