It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mamie JoAnne Price, aged 69, on July 4, 2024. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her.

Mamie first moved to Toledo in the year 1980, where she met her husband, Lawrence Price.

Mamie, also known as 'JoAnne' to her closest friends and loved ones, lived a full life with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She often enjoyed family outings to the local zoo, libraries, carnivals, festivals, area metroparks, apple orchards and pumpkin patches. Mamie was an advocate for higher education and encouraged entrepreneurship. She had a great appreciation for the arts, music and sophistication.

Before becoming a homemaker and loving grandmother, Mamie attended the University of Toledo, with a focus in Social Work. She was employed with Lucas County Job & Family Services, The U.S. Census Bureau and Dahmler-Chrysler. In the year 2000, she became a certified home daycare provider and that career spanned over two decades. Upon retirement, Mamie worked as a youth mentor at Grace Community Center, and then as a community advocate with Providence Center.

She was known for being the 'go-to' person because she always had an unbiased listening ear, and or solution for any situation. She was a joyous, caring and compassionate woman who truly loved her family, her friends and helping her community.

She is survived by: husband, Lawrence Price. children—Parris Wade, Heather Price, Lawrence Price II and Annastacia Price, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brother Claude, Sisters Mary and Gladys. She was predeceased by Mother, Gladys Wade, Father Freddie L. Wade and sister Margaret Alexander.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10am at Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, Ohio 43614.

There will be a repast following services, at The Movement Church located at 1501 Western Ave. Toledo, Ohio 43609 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm

She will be dearly missed and forever remembered for her strength, love and kindness.
