MICHAEL O. SCHANKE Mike passed away, suddenly, March 11, 2017, due to CHF. Mike was born March 13, 1952 in Toledo to Willis Schanke and Arlene (Wrzesinski) Jones. Mike graduated from Clay High, Oregon in 1971. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 - 1975 (Vietnam Era). He was a long haul trucker and worked for TARTA in Toledo and also for Libbey Glass. He is survived by daughters, Hope (Edward) Smith of Sylvania, Michelle (Tom) Bednar of Oregon, plus 7 grandchildren, Jackie Koprowski, Sydney Kwiatkowski, Alexis Smith, Nicole Smith, Haley Smith, Brayden Bednar, Tempest Bednar and 4 great-grandchildren, Joseph Hammons Jr., Jace Koprowski, Antonio Gonzalez and Madilyn Gonzalez, brother, Thomas Schanke of Toledo and sister, Susan Lowell of Oregon, as well as former wife and friend, Marlene (Meier). He was preceded in death by his parents. Mike will be remembered for his love of his grandchildren, to whom he taught everything from dinosaurs to the stars in our galaxy. He will also be remembered for living life on his own terms. He was a wonderful father and grand-father. He was loved deeply and will be dearly missed. Services will be private.
