Obituary

MYRNA RICHARDSON 5/11/1941 - 1/10/2022 Myrna Carolyn Stokes Wright Richardson passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022 in Toledo, Ohio. She was 80 years old. Myrna Carolyn Stokes was born on May 11, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the daughter of Lottie Oliver Stokes and Allen Preston Stokes. She had seven brothers, Jerome, Nathan, Charles, Gary, Tony, Allen and Morris. She was third from the oldest. Due to both of her parents' health issues, they gave legal guardianship to her father's sister and husband, Helen Stokes O'Banyoun and George R. O'Banyoun Sr. Helen and George drove Myrna to her new home in the Bronx, New York to live with them and her cousins, George Jr., Donald, Barbara and Mary. Mary was three days older than her, and they became inseparable. Myrna attended Evander Childs High School and graduated in June 1959. Some summers had been spent in Boston, Massachusetts with family and friends. Myrna loved to travel. Myrna married Osborne "Skip" Wright Jr. in 1961. Together, they had three children, Alicia Ann (Lee) (spouse Carol Ann Beshaw), Darren Joel (spouse Sherry), and Douglas Anthony-Richard. In the early 1970's, Myrna made history by becoming the first Black female to drive the city bus in New York City. Her fame landed her an appearance on the then popular TV game show, "What's My Line?" Myrna married the late Alfred Martin Richardson in 1978 and together they had three children, Gregory-Russell Drew (spouse Brittany), Tiffany Tai and Crystal Grace (spouse Shane Manteuffel). Myrna has 17 grandchildren, Aja, Taylor, Spencer, Demi, Peyton, Paige, Pree, London, Reece, Graeme, Keylen, Emmerleigh, Cai-Anne, Destiny, Siobhan, Sebastian, and Saoirse. She also has one great grandson, Julius. Besides the immediate family, Myrna also leaves behind her closest family members, her aunt Sandra Randall and her cousin Mary O'Banyoun-Abdullah and many other nieces and nephews and friends. She was quite the jokester who enjoyed making people laugh. Myrna also enjoyed crossword puzzles, westerns, and spending time with her grandchildren.
