Pamela J
Schunk
Sep 18, 1958 — Jan 19, 2026
Pamela Jean (Kertesz) Schunk
September 18, 1958 - January 19, 2026
Pamela Jean (Kertesz) Schunk born September 18, 1958 was the second child of Carol Joan (Pinkelman)
Kertesz and Andrew Kertesz. Pam passed away on January 19, 2026 after struggling for several years
with significant health issues. We find comfort in knowing that Pam is now pain free, breathing easy,
and resting in peace.
Pam attended OLPH for grade school and was a graduate of Bowsher HS, class of 1976.
Pam will be remembered for her love of life and serving others. She was a CENA for several years and
loved taking care of the residents under her care. A job many would never consider but Pam was
frequently known to say that she loved that job. It showed!
Over the years Pam worked mostly in the food service industry, mostly recently (before COVID) at Burger
King, right next door to her home in South Toledo, which made transportation easy.
Quick to smile and truly a giving person with a heart of gold, Pam would gladly give the shirt off her back
for someone in need. She was never afraid to share what she had and was a fast and lasting friend to
many. Pam loved to cook and grill out, and made the most delicious potato salad which was one of her
signature dishes! Although she loved to cook, potato chips were probably her favorite food and she was
known to be a super picky eater too.
Pam is the proud mother of 3 (all who survive her): Charles (Becky) Kertesz, Ryan Schunk, and Kelley
Schunk. Pam also leaves behind grandchildren: Dominick (Melissa), Cortni (Jared), Joshua, Andrew,
Atlantia, Oceana, Riley, Michael, Paisley, Kinsley and great grandchildren Aiden and Zoey. Siblings
Andrew Kertesz and Lori Kertesz Moore (Kevin) also survive. Multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces and
nephews, and a multitude of cousins on both sides of her family also survive. Pam's many friends from
over the years will certainly miss her as well.
A memorial mass will be held at Little Flower Catholic Church; 5522 Dorr St, Toledo, OH 43615 on Friday
Jan. 23, 2026 at 11am. A time for visiting and sharing memories will proceed the mass starting at 10am.
