Rex Abbott, age 68, of Maumee passed away May 2,2024 in Rehabilitation Hospital of Northwest Ohio while recovering from a stroke. He was born June 10,1955 to Charles and Elma Abbott. Rex held many jobs and was essentially self-employed throughout his life with jobs in roofing, concrete work, and car and motor repair. For the past 11 years, he helped his brother, Gary as an HVAC technician at Abbott Mechanical Services (AMS). He enjoyed collecting coins, shooting pool, and playing golf. Rex also liked fishing, partying with friends and always made it to family gatherings.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Elma and Charles Abbott and his sister, Susan VanScoder. He is survived by his brothers Robert (Denise) and Gary; nieces and nephews, Charles Abbott, Shannon Abbott (Steve & son Odin), Nick Abbott (Ashley),Tyler Abbott (Jana), Bryce Abbott (Lauren and their sons Jaxon and Winston) who all mourn the loss of their uncle.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rex's life while visiting and reminiscing at the Farnsworth Indianola Shelter house on the Maumee River on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Rex's memory. The Indianola Shelter house is located at 8505 S. River Road, Grand Rapids, OH 43566.
