Richard "Dick" Milton Schmidt Richard Milton Schmidt passed away on August 20, 2011, at the age of 79. Dick was born in Toledo, on December 25, 1931, to Milton H. and Edith (Sawtelle) Schmidt. He graduated from Maumee High School in 1951 and served in the US Navy Reserves. Dick worked for Pierce and Regent Electric companies as an electrician, and was a member of Local 8 IBEW. Dick married Rose Marie Marks in Toledo on March 12, 1953. Rose worked for several local automobile dealerships in the 70's and 80's, as a warranty administrator for the former Gumpp Cadillac and George Ballas Buick. Rose passed away on October 19, 2004 in Parrish, Florida. Dick enjoyed boating with Rose on their Lyman boat, as they spent summers at their cottage in Luna Pier, MI. He was also a member of the Toledo Sailing Club and an avid snowmobiler. In the 1950's Dick drove stock cars in Tiffin and Findlay Ohio and was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. After moving to Florida they both became fans of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Buccaneers. Both are survived by their son Richard (Kim) Schmidt, daughter Robin (Mike)Vogel, grandchildren Lindsay Schmidt, Erick Schmidt, Kristin (Eddie) McGee, Kyle Vogel (Fiance Tori Bilek) and great grandson Bryson McGee. Also surviving are sisters and sisters-in-law; Barbara Jaeger, Beverly (Arnie) Long, Kelly Schmidt, Peg (Ken) Zircher, Helen Stein and Reba McClernon; and Rose's brothers Jae and Frank Marks as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited for a very special memorial service for Richard and Rose which will be held at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home (3453 Heatherdowns at Byrne Roads). Visitation will begin Thursday August 25, 2011 at 6:30 until the memorial service at 8:30. Donations may be made to Hospice of N.W.O.
