Roger A. Grier, DVM Dr. Roger A. Grier, age 85, of Sylvania Township, Ohio passed away on June 1, 2017. He was born June 6, 1931 in Jamestown, NY to parents Mr. and Mrs. John Grier. He grew up in Cincinnati, OH and graduated from Withrow High School, in 1949. Roger graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Agriculture, in 1955 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1957. He was a member of the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity and the Air Force R.O.T.C. On July 27, 1952, Roger married Peggy L. Tarbill, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Leslie M. Tarbill of New Holland, OH. Roger opened the Grier Animal Hospital at 5236 Monroe St., Toledo, OH in 1959, where he practiced small animal medicine. He was a member and past president of the Toledo Veterinary Medical Association. Roger was a member of the Sylvania Rotary Club, and the Covenant United Presbyterian church. He was a flight instructor for the Blue Horizons Flying Club, and flew for Erler Industries. Roger studied the German language at the University of Toledo so he could speak with people in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, when he and his wife Peggy traveled to Europe. After his retirement, he enjoyed yard work, home projects, photography, walking at Wildwood Park and Franklin Park Mall, and visiting friends at McDonalds. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter, Natalie (David) Williams; and son, Gregory. There will be no memorial service; however, his cremains will be placed at Toledo Memorial Park at a future date.
