Our History
Caring Cremation Services was founded by Robert A. Scott, a second-generation funeral director who recognized
the need for affordable yet high-quality cremation services in Toledo and the surrounding communities of
Perrysburg, Rossford, and Maumee. Inspired by his father, Charles M. Scott, Senior—a man whose dedication to
compassionate, professional funeral care has shaped the region for decades—Robert A. Scott built a legacy of
service and commitment.
After completing his military service, Mr. Scott pursued his formal education at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary
Science and graduated in 1990. He began his career as a licensed funeral director and embalmer, working
alongside his father and brother at Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home. His deep roots in Toledo and active involvement
in civic organizations have helped establish Caring Cremation Services as a trusted part of the community.
In March 2026, Caring Cremations entered a new chapter under the ownership of Mr. Charles Scott Jr. Born in
Toledo in 1962, Charles Jr. attended local schools, graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School in 1981, and
earned his Associate’s degree from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1986. With over 25 years of
experience and a strong dedication to service, Charles Jr. is committed to upholding the values and reputation that
Caring Cremation Services has built over the years.
Community-Oriented
Both the Scott family and Caring Cremation Services are deeply committed to the Toledo community. Charles Scott
Jr. is a 25-year member of the West Toledo Exchange Club, serving as President and Past District President of the
former Northwest Ohio, now Ohio-West Virginia Exchange Club. He is also a member of the Barton Smith Masonic
Lodge and the Zenobia Shrine, continuing the family tradition of civic involvement and leadership.
